We decided to withdraw our submission before the finalists were announced. Karsan, Ford and Nissan are the manufacturers chosen as finalists by the TLC.

PRESS RELEASE: Chris Burrell, founder and director of UniCo Design Co (UniCo) along with the team for the TAXI OF TOMORROW design, has beaten all odds and is one of small number of finalists in the New York Taxi & Limousine Commission’s quest to find the “The Taxi of Tomorrow”.
The project is a unique opportunity to explore upgrades to the existing NYC taxi fleet by learning about possibilities for a more appropriate vehicle that reflects the needs of its diverse stakeholders – passengers, drivers, owners and NYC residents. The RFI seeks to gauge the various options available to bring a new model medallion yellow taxicab to New York City in the near future.

Our company’s first managing director, Jacob Baldwin, passed away in the early hours of this morning after an extended illness. We are so very sad to lose him, and so glad that he saw the huge positive reaction to our NYCTaxi submission before he left us.

This is our information site for the public regarding our submission to the NYC search for a Taxi Of Tomorrow. We ended up deciding to withdraw from the submission process before the finalists were announced. We continue to lobby for Access For All, ShareAFare, EcoAware vehicles for the next generation of NYC Taxicabs, and are pursuing other markets for our UniCab EcoTaxi.
